Illustrator Research #5- Camille Rose Garcia

Camille Rose Garcia was born in 1970 in Los Angeles, California and grew up in the suburbs of Orange County. Her paintings of cartoon children living in wasteland fairy tales are commentaries on the failures of capitalist utopias. Creative influences include Phillip K. Dick, William Burroughs, Henry Darger,Walt Disney, as welll as politically aware bands like The Clash and Dead Kennedys.

Her work method consists of painting and printworks. Her work has appeared in Flaunt Magazine, Rolling Stone, Juxtapoz, and Paper Magazine, among others. She currently lives in Los Angeles.

I do enjoy her work, especially in her consistency in style. Even for various works the style continues on. I also like her use of narratives in her pieces. Each picture is a very detailed scene, and they all give a strong emotional sense.
