Illustrator Research #30- Charlene Chua

Charlene Chua
is an award-winning illustrator whose work has appeared in magazines, cd covers, advertisements, brochures and billboards. She also illustrated the children's book, Julie Black Belt, from Immedium Publishing. Originally from Singapore, she currently resides in Toronto with her husband and two cats. Her work has appeared in the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles' Illustration West 43 and 45.

Some of her clients include Asian Diver, Cambridge University Press, CLEO Singapore, Critical Mass Toronto, Daimler Chrysler SEA, Dentsu Singapore, Dixie, FHM Singapore, Kid's Company, IGN.com, Imagine Publishing, Immedium Publishing, Main Line Today, Maxim, Singapore, Ministry of Education, Singapore, Mother & Baby, and National Geographic School Publishing.

Her working method consists of creating digital illustrations along with vector ones.

I really enjoy her work on a digital basis, and I love how she plays with the figure and color along with having vector illustrations. Her work has a nice intensity to its coloring and contrast.
