Illustrator Research #20- Jan Stamm

Jan Stamm studied illustration at the Art Center College of Design in California; she has continued with classes in oil painting-believing there is always more to learn and explore in art. She has shown her work at the annual Artwalk, Art Academy, Westin Hotel, Federal Building, Bread and Cie, La Jolla Library and other local venues in San Diego. In her paintings, she likes to explore the qualities of the media, the use of color and interpreting each subject in a personal way. Her subject matter tends to be about everyday surroundings - whether landscape, still life, people, birds or animals; memories are often a theme for her work.

Some of her clients include Hay House, Inc., Marks and Spencer, Schurman Design, Harcourt Education among others.

Her work method is mainly oil painting, and the illustrations tend to be whimsical with a painterly feel. Strong color and conceptual imaginary imagery are most important to her work.

I really enjoy her work's painting method. The dabs of paint are clearly visable, and they create a soft sense to the illustrations.
