Illustrator Research #23- Chris Whetzel

Website

Chris Whetzel graduated from the University of the Arts with a BFA in Illustration during the summer of 2003. Working as both an illustrator and a designer, he has had work published in many forms as well as having taken part in several group and solo gallery exhibitions. His work is digital with a focus on contrast and limited color choices.

His past clients have been Village Voice Media, Cinncinnati Magazine, Honolulu Magazine, Penton Media, Register Rep Magazine, Retail Traffic Magazine, NAACP, Crisis Magazine, Bloomberg Markets, Macmillan McGraw-Hill, Random House Publishing, Boston Business Journal, McMurry Publishing, Amtrak, Arrive Magazine, MyBusiness Magazine, Hammock Publishing, Phoenix New Times, Foundations Magazine, Sacramento News & Review, Improper Bostonian, Nashville Scene, Cleveland Scene, PRINT Magazine, Last Stand Comics, Summ.net, United States Army, SF Weekly, and Houston Press.

I like his color selection and his use of the figure; it really gives a graphic novel sense with action scenes creating the expression of many of his designs.
